I've downloadad a UK topographic map from Ordnance Survey Opendata. When I open the zip file I can see it contains tiff images and tfw and tab files with extra info. There is no global index or anything like that.
I would like to use it with my android phone to navigate. At the moment I'm using the program Oruxmaps, but I could use any you could advise me. Oruxmaps can work with many formats but not with tfw, tab or tiff files.
I guess I need to convert the format. I've been advised to use Okmap to do so.
In your tutorial it's said that I need to do Utilities -> Map Tiling/Garmin Custom Maps -> load map....
But that way I can only load one map at a time and it tiles it.
What I need to do is the opposite, merge all the tiff files (400 pieces) into a unique file to be used with the GPS. I guess the best option is a JNX output.
A question: UK topographic map from Ordnance Survey Opendata are already tiled? If yes you should merge the tif file but OkMap cannot do this; you can use MAPC2MAPC. If no, you can use Utilities -> Map Tiling/Garmin Custom Maps. Load the file TFW using first toolbar button (Load a raster map). Then choose "World file ..." from file type combo in open file dialog. Select your TFW file. Follow the wizard to select coordinates type and map projection. Change output format to "OruxMap" and press "Generate" button (the last) on the toolbar.
