I'm looking for an application to use my local mbtiles databases (mainly) along with a GPS input for portable navigation use on a rugged tablet.

I've just come across OkMap and am trying the trial. It looks very close to what I am looking for, but...

First hurdle... I tried to load a small (3GB) mbtiles database. I got a yellow "Loading map..." status bar and gave up waiting after watching it slowly creep along for five minutes.

Second hurdle... I tried an even smaller (200MB) mbtiles file and waited three+ for it to load. This time I was greeted with "You can't load files with more than two calibration points in the trial" or something like that.

I've just read the manual and seen the mbtiles/RMap notes. I'm a little surprised; the whole point of an mbtiles database is not to have to load an entire map into memory. Doing so defeats the purpose of it.

Oh well, back to the search.

OkMap, rebuild a single map when you load a tiled map.
This because you can create other maps formats with different tiles sizes.
For example you can create a map for OziExplorer which cannot be tiled.
